On September 15, BFS organized its 4th Walking around the Lake event in Honglingjin Park, which was ablaze with the colors of early autumn, to generate more attention for natural environments and conservation. Nearly 1000 residents nearby participated.

During this half-day event, 4 different information booths with different themes, such as forest experience, UNDP-Macao Initiative and Carbon sequestration, were set up along the lake near the south, west, north and east gates. Once they decided to take park in the activity, they received a small booklet. People of all ages walked around the wonderful lake in Honglingjin Park, and stopped by the booths, where they could answer questions and for the correct answers they received a “pass” stamp on the booklet. After finishing the whole walk, they got nice gifts. The whole event was more than just a walk. The public learned about the nature, biodiversity forest ecosystem, forestry and climate change, water resources and so on. And that enhanced people’s awareness on biodiversity and ecosystem health and contributed to a positive relationship between human and nature.

A special area was also designed, where children could do handiwork using acorns and wood. They fully displayed their active imagination in making turtles, goldfish. It was aimed at exposing children at an early age to the aesthetic and artistic significance of natural environments, and to promote harmony between man and man as well as man and nature.
