On Friday, August 28th, BFS will be launching the new China Mega-City Water Fund (CMCWF) together with PMWP, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), IUCN, Forest Trends, the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation and Kieser & Associates LLC. This water fund represents a new and innovative way for citizens and organizations to engage in the conservation and improvement of Beijing’s perhaps most valuable resource – its water. The water crisis in Beijing has been in the awareness of the public for a while now, however, it has been less well known that often it is not the sheer quantity of water that causing the crisis. A lack of water quality can deem large quantities of water unfit for human consumption. The CMWF will aim at fixing both issues: water quality and quantity. Improving such complex issues will require the cooperation of everybody invested in the fate of Beijing’s water. Through a management board consisting of stakeholders from all sectors (NGOs, government, private sector etc.) it will bundle the specific interests and investments of these groups and cost-effectively use them to finance projects in the Miyun watershed to enhance the water quality and increase water quantity. We invite you to attend the launch of the CMCWF on August 28th at 4pm at Yuyang Hotel and celebrate this historic moment together with initiators. Please contact Ms. Shen Qianqian to register your attendance in the form below (or call under 010-84236221).
